Last night the following players almost cost the Flames the game: Brodie (turnovers missed coverage as usual), Stone (so slow, so much gap always between him and the attacking players), Ryan (just horrible so far this year, loses almost all battles with the puck, misses passes, turns over the puck a lot... where is Czarnik??!!), and Neal (doing nothing out there, too slow, Brouwer 2.0 seriously until he proves otherwise).
Gio-Andersson
Hamonic-Brodie
Valimaki-Hamonic
I'm pretty sure these D pairings will work best once Hammer is back. And please play Czarnik Peters! Geez... |

Sam Bennett and James Neal, in particular, have played well as a duo of late. Last night that was not the case.
I didn't think Bennet played that bad. We rang one off the post and was physical.
Neal seems slow out there. Almost would rather he just parks in front of the net and irritates the goalie then float around like he is now. |

Nylander for Neal - cpltanto
If it happens (not super likely unless we get close to December) I'm thinking Hamonic would be the guy to build the deal around.
Right shot d. Something the leafs need desperately, and they wouldn't be dealing from a position of strength at that point.
We give Hamonic a hard time, but people forget that he costed a 1st and 2 2nd's just a couple of years ago. Taylor Hall only brought back freakin Larsson People seem to think that Nylander is going to score the leafs a top pairing dman--he won't.

There's nothing the Flames would be willing to give up that the Leafs would want for Nylander unless it's the Flames' next 3 first round picks. You can't just dump your garbage on other teams to get back a 22-year-old 60 point scorer. No one desperately needs Hamonic.
There's about a 2% chance Dubas was at the game last to scout Flames' players for a Nylander trade, maybe a 6% chance he was scouting Ranger players for the same trade, and a 95% chance he was just in town so went to the hockey game.

I'd rather see Stone and a prospect (foo maybe). Nylander isnt' going to sign for less than 8, so it's essentially a rental. No way Tre gives him 8m a year. |

Read above about what I said about getting stuff of value back for your team's garbage.
How is it a rental? He doesn't currently have a contract. |

Stone wouldn't be enough to get it done. Toronto would probably want Rass, but no (frank)in way I'd include him.
I think he'd sign an similar deal to what Johnny has (5-6 years x 6.75). I'm thinking Nylander got some inside info that he was going to be dealt next season--that's the reason for the hold out. He doesn't want to sign a sweetheart deal with Toronto only to be flipped to Minnesota or some poop like that.
If I were BT I'd hang tough centering the deal around Hamonic and Frolik (or Brodie if they'd prefer him). We'd probably have to part with a decent prospect or a pick as well.
Toronto is all-in these next few years, adding useful mid-aged players like Hamonic & Frolik to their lineup would be nothing to sneeze at come playoff time.
If other teams are beating our offer then walk. Maybe take a look at Bob & Pan in Columbus

Hell yeah. Couple more games like that and maybe he gets a look on the powerplay.
Noticing our PP was trash last game maybe he’ll be there tomorrow. |

Rittich was super human last night while our team D was awful. Czanik must play. If we must bench someone to send a message make it Neal, or Ryan. They have done little but blow goats this year. |

Flames took the first half of the first and second period off and then took the entire third period off.
Not a good game if Rittich doesn’t play that well. |

I was going to say Hathaway before last game, then he went and scored 2 goals
But I agree, Czarnik needs to be in. I know he had a big night back a couple of nights ago, but Frolik doesn't belong with the Backlund/Tkachuk pairing on a regular basis anymore.
It's a waste of Tkachuk's talent to not have a goalscorer on that wing--might be time to give Neal a chance to ride shotgun on that line. |

Which is exactly what the effeminate bastard is worth. So it’ll probably happen. |
